LinkedIn profile hacks to land your dream job

Creating a LinkedIn Profile that is professional and draws the attention you want can help you land your dream job. Here are a few important best practices to make your LinkedIn profile stand out among others:

Use a professional photo

If you don’t have a photo for your profile, have a professional headshot taken and add to your profile. This photo is important as it is the first impression you make with others. Be sure to smile and wear professional dress in the photo.

Create a headline

LinkedIn automatically creates a headline with your job title and current company, but you can easily change it. Keep your headline short to around ten words, including keywords that can help your profile to become searched more often.

Add documents or images to your “Experience”

Create a visual portfolio with documents or images you have created as part of your experience. This can show potential employers your skills through these different projects you have worked on.

Keep your work history up-to-date

Update your LinkedIn Profile and resume every year and make sure everything listed on there is relevant. Remember, you do not need to list every job you’ve ever had.

Fill out your profile as much as possible

Be sure to fill out as many sections on your LinkedIn profile that are applicable such as skills, education, volunteer service, etc. These sections can show employers how well rounded an individual is.

Use recommendations

Ask past managers and associates to write you a recommendation on LinkedIn. While endorsements are great too, recommendations make you stand out.

Have a friend review your profile

Ask a friend to read over, review and make changes to your profile. A second set of eyes can help you know if you need to make any changes or not. We hope that these tips will help you land your dream job. Please share with us any other tips you have on creating a LinkedIn Profile that will help you get the job you want.
