4 Ways to Improve Your Work Environment

The environment where you work impacts your motivation, mood and performance. Creating a positive work environment contributes to your overall success and productivity, so what can you do to improve it? Here are a few ideas that can help:

  1. Increase Light & Plant Exposure

Exposure to natural light helps to improve energy, productivity and focus. If you are unable to add more natural light through windows, try using a warm desk lamp also, that will help you from straining your eyes at work. Plants have also been proven to help create a more positive environment by refreshing the air and increasing overall mood in the office.

2. Schedule a daily break- and take it

Take time each day for a little break.Stepping away from your screen for a few minutes will help you increase focus when you get back and give you fresh eyes for the task at hand.

3. Make your workspace comfortable

Whether working from home or at an office, make an effort to create a comfortable relaxing environment. For example, give your employees the flexibility to choose to work where they are comfortable, whether that is standing or sitting at their desk, on a exercise ball, or couch. When employees have more access to a comfortable environment, creativity is more likely to flow.

4. Add color and artwork

Add color to the walls and nice artwork to enhance creativity. Let employees take a little bit of time to personalize and clean up their workspace. Clean workspaces help employees focus better on tasks at hand and being able to personalize your workstation a little bit makes them feel more comfortable.
