22 Sep Tips for Safe Travel
Traveling to another country for business or leisure can be exciting and fun, however, it is important to be prepared to avoid any danger. Here are a few tips that can help increase safe travel for your next trip:
Before you go:
Let your bank know your travel itinerary in advance
Banks keep track of where your cards are being used for the safety and security of your money. Tell them in advance when you are traveling. That way the bank won’t block your card when they see purchases on your account in Bangkok.
Research Your Destination
Before embarking on your trip, be aware of any safety concerns as well as the local culture and etiquette. Know areas to avoid, whether the tap water is safe to drink, and what the local emergency number is.
During your travels:
Separate your money and other valuables
Do not keep all of your credit cards, passport and/or other valuables in the same place. Keep some money in your purse or wallet and your passport in a money pouch. The last thing you want is to be stranded with no money.
Be alert and aware
Don’t get too distracted and let your guard down. Be aware of your surroundings and alert to keep yourself safe, especially if traveling alone or late at night. Try to have a plan and stick with it. Make sure to touch bases with someone back home so they know you’re okay.
